Where Children Grow and Succeed Together
2022
Welcome to our year 4 page.
Please find the Spring term curriculum map below and some of our knowledge organisers for this term. These are for your information so you know what topics we'll be covering – feel free to explore this learning at home. As new topics come up, I will upload the knowledge organisers below for your perusal.
Year 4 will have swimming on Thursdays until February half term (when year 3 will be swimming). We will be collected by coach at approximately 9:05 for our lesson at 9:30-10:00am – you are welcome to watch from the balcony at Waterfields should you wish to do so.
We will have our PE session on a Friday afternoon, so children should dress in weather-appropriate PE kits on Fridays please (we will endeavour to always be outside). Across the school, we regularly participate in a ‘Daily Boost’ exercise activity – so it would be a good idea to have suitable trainers in school if your child prefers to exercise in these instead of their usual school shoes.
Spellings will be taught, handed out and tested on Wednesdays. May I take this opportunity to remind you about the purpose of the spelling journal. Your child’s spelling journal is to practise their words in. These should be kept in their school bags so that they may be accessed in school but can also be available then to practise at home.
Homework will be sent home on Fridays – please supervise your child to make sure that it is completed and returned on the following Wednesday to allow me some time to mark it.
The daily 10 reading challenge will continue this year and I would encourage all children to read for at least 10 minutes each day. Their reading records should be signed by a parent or guardian to confirm that this has been completed.
Year 4 is an important year for the children to grasp their times tables and children should be able to recall all the times tables up to 12 x 12 by May 2022. I will be dedicating sessions towards achieving this in school, but support at home will be essential to your child’s success with this.
Please speak to us if you require any help or if you have any matter you wish to discuss – I will be available in the playground before and after school, or alternatively, leave a message with the office for me to contact you outside teaching hours.
Thank you for all of your support towards us all having a super year!
Mrs Rolls-Drew (aka Mrs RD) and Mrs Tymanskyj (aka Mrs T).
Please note that login and password details for TT Rockstars and Teams can be found in your child’s reading record.
