Welcome to Year 2
The children have settled back in to school life and are enjoying the new topics we are looking at. Uploaded below are Knowledge Organisers for science, geography and art. These are an overview of the key facts your child will learn in each of these subjects. I have also attached a half termly overview so you can see the others areas we will be looking at in class.
Your child has been given a reading book and reading diary, which you can use to record each time you read with them at home. Please ensure that these are returned to school every day in your child’s book bag.
This year we will be continuing the Daily Ten reading challenge, where children are encouraged to read for ten minutes, every day. They will get a certificate for each milestone they read.
In year 2, the children will also be given a list of spellings in their ‘Weekly Spellings’ book every Monday, which will be tested the following Monday. Please practice these at home and ensure that the book is kept in their book bag so new words can be added each week.
Finally, in the Autumn term, PE will take place on a Monday and Wednesday, so the children should come to school dressed appropriately. The children should have their long hair tied up and earrings removed, if they are not able to do this themselves.
