What do the Governors do?
The Governors' key responsibilities include:
In all this we are accountable for how the school is run to the parents and the Diocese of Leicester Academies Trust.
What the Governors don't do is organise, manage or control the school on a day-to-day basis - this is the responsibility of the Headteacher. Nor do we get involved in individual pupil issues unless there is a serious incident or an appeal. Community governors represent the interests of the wider community, whilst parent governors represent the interest of all the parents and not just their own children.
The full governing body meets every term and there are several working groups that meet throughout the year to monitor the strategic direction of the school. All the Governors also visit classes and assemblies from time to time. We work with Ms Morris and the staff, and especially the subject leaders, to keep in touch with the developments in teaching and learning across the curriculum and the school.
The School Governors
Governors usually serve a four year term on the Governing Body. The role of Governors is now far reaching with wide ranging responsibilities. In order to carry out these responsibilities effectively, we have formed working groups:
Finance and Health and Safety
Curriculum and Standards
These meet separately, before presenting their recommendations to the full Governing Body.
As Governors we welcome any comments or suggestions which will help us to maintain and improve the school.
